Santa Barbara, CA (PRWEB) May 09, 2012

When John and Kim Kelliher, owners of The Grapeline Wine Country Shuttle, expanded their successful wine tour business to include the beautiful wineries in the Santa Barbara and Central Coast area, it wasn?t just because of the great wine and atmosphere. It was also because of their love affair with Pinot Noir. While it may sound questionable to start a new business because of a passion for a particular varietal, it was a no-brainer for these two Pinot lovers.

Fast forward five years. Today, The Grapeline has earned over 250 Five-Star reviews on feedback sites like Yelp and TripAdvisor, and has hosted over 15,000 wine lovers in Santa Barbara County alone. But the one thing that hasn?t happened was a tour that highlighted the Kellihers? favorite varietal: Pinot Noir. Until now.

?Pinot needs constant care and attention… it can only grow in these really specific, little tucked-away corners of the world. And only the most patient and nurturing of growers can do it, really. Only someone who really takes the time to understand pinot?s potential can then coax it into its fullest expression.? That?s how Miles explained to Maya his appreciation of Pinot Noir?s unique challenges ? and its sublime incarnations ? in the movie Sideways. Central Coast sales of Pinot Noir vaulted by 42% as the wine drinkers clamored to discover the inspiration for his musings.

The Sideways furor has subsided, but the popularity of this complex varietal remains. Pinot Noir from the Santa Barbara region is considered some of the best in the world. So on May 20, 2012, The Grapeline is offering the Pinot Lovers Tour ? an entire day dedicated to sample ?the fullest expression? of this temperamental, thin-skinned grape that survives in select corners of the ocean-influenced microclimate in the Santa Rita Hills of Santa Barbara County.

?This tour really has been created for Kim and me, and if others want to come along and enjoy the day with us then great ? we?d love to have them,? says John. The Grapeline called in favors from several of the ?big guns? in the Central Coast Pinot Noir world to put together a Vineyard Picnic Tour with a decidedly Pinot twist. Reflecting their desire to start bringing more exclusive experiences to their customers to enhance their existing repertoire, this special day of Pinot Tasting is a part of their Signature Series. According to Kelliher, ?The Signature Series consists of small tours where we go out and find the best things to do with the most interesting people in wine country, and put them all together for one special day.? The Pinot Lovers Tour is the second Signature Series Tour and reflects The Grapeline?s goal ?to create a higher standard of wine country experiences.?

Napa, CA (PRWEB) April 18, 2012

Napa Valley?s Vine Cliff Winery, a premier winery known for limited-production Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay, is excited to announce a new program for consumers to tour the winery and taste wines with winemaker Jim Kress.

?We are very pleased that our guests will have this opportunity,? Rob Sweeney, Vine Cliff Winery?s proprietor and general manager, said. ?Jim is a great guy, and what could be better than visiting our tasting room with one of the key people responsible for making them??

The tours and tastings will be held every Friday at 3 p.m. and will last about 90 minutes. A maximum of 12 guests per week may participate and the cost is $ 25 per guest. Prior appointments are required. Children and pets are not permitted.

Kress joined Vine Cliff Winery prior to the 2011 harvest. He has 16 vintages under his belt and has previously worked at St. Clement Vineyards and Domaine Chandon. After graduating from the School of Hotel Administration at Cornell University, Jim?s passion for food and wine eventually led him to the Master of Science program in Viticulture and Enology at the University of California, Davis.

?I am excited to have the chance to share our passion with Vine Cliff?s guests,? Kress said. ?We?ll check out the production area, kick some dirt in the vineyards, then relax in the caves and try some wines. It should be a lot of fun!?

For more information about Vine Cliff Winery’s weekly wine tastings or to make reservations, call 707-948-6296 or 707-944-1364, view the winery on the web at http://www.vinecliff.com, or visit 7400 Silvarado Trail in Napa Valley.

Napa Valley, CA (PRWEB) March 14, 2012

You couldn?t say no to your co-worker?s pitch for her daughter?s Girl Scout Cookies. Now, what to do with all those Do-Si-Dos and Tagalongs? Kris Margerum, Wine Director at Napa Valley?s luxury hotel and Michelin-starred restaurant Auberge du Soleil, offers a wine-lover?s solution. ?Even the simplest sweets can be paired with a fine wine,? said Margerum. He enjoys pairing confections with exquisite vintages. “They shape the flavor and take the simple experience of enjoying a cookie to an entirely new level of enjoyment.?

Margerum, a 25-year veteran of Auberge du Soleil, blind-tastes more than 100 wines a week to maintain Auberge du Soleil?s wine list of 1,500 selections, and offers after-dinner pairings of rare Madeiras and house-made chocolates at the inn?s restaurant. He explored Auberge du Soleil?s 17,000-bottle cellar, for the perfect wines to complement selections from this year?s batch Girl Scout goodies:
San Diego, CA (PRWEB) April 17, 2012

EnvironmentalLights.com, a leading source for high-quality, sustainable LED lighting, has teamed up with Vista Wine Cellars to provide energy-efficient lighting systems for custom wine cellar installations. When combined with the proper climate-control and insulation, wine cellars provide the protection needed while also promoting sustainability and beauty. Vista Wine Cellars, owned by Robb Scheele, has been designing custom wine cellars for years with LED lighting systems from EnvironmentalLights.com.

?We are proud of the work our customers are doing with LED lighting and the efforts they are making to provide sustainable, energy-efficient solutions to their customers? said co-founder and vice president of EnvironmentalLights.com, Anne Thorson. ?We have worked with Vista Wine Cellars for years and it has been so rewarding to partner with them and see the beautiful results.?

Whether designing to a small space under a staircase or a full room conversion, Robb Scheele is a craftsman who can create a custom cabinet or wine display to fit any area. A wine cellar adds value to a home, and provides the proper environment to store wines ? in a cool, humidity-controlled space where the wines can age properly.

?The workmanship is excellent ? down to the last detail ? which does not go unnoticed by all those who see the ?work of art? created as they enter our home,? stated a Vista Wine Cellars customer. ?The different sizes of bottles all fit where they should and the openness and space from top to bottom makes the wine room easy to access and use whenever we want. The lighting is perfect and the cooling system works better than we expected.?

Fluctuating temperatures, low humidity, and high lighting can be harmful to a wine collection. A wine cellar should have the proper insulation and vapor barriers to eliminate the risk of mold and mildew, as well as be energy-efficient to save you from high energy bills. The average home is heated to 70 degrees with the around 20 to 30 percent humidity levels. A wine cellar is kept at about 55 to 57 degrees and the humidity at about 50 percent.

In a recent residential installation, Vista Wine Cellars transformed what was once a closet in a living room, into a stunning glass-enclosed wine cabinet to hold 850 bottles. Not having the space to build a full wine cellar, the design team was able to convert the closet area into a custom wine cabinet to compliment the contemporary design of the home and create a natural divider between the living room and dining room.

?One of the most important questions to ask before designing a space is what type of wines are in the collection,? said Scheele. ?We always build to the collection. Pinot and Shiraz bottles are larger format than Merlots, and a lot of people have Champagne collections or special magnum bottles they want to highlight in their display.?

Utilizing this knowledge of the collection, Vista Wine Cellars designed the cabinets to have display shelves in the cabinet to feature these special bottles. Specialty lighting and label-forward, angled racking were installed to highlight and easily display the names of these wines. Using warm white LED strip lights from EnvironmentalLights.com, they were able to create a custom lighting system to fit the cabinet design.

?LED strip lighting is great for these types of designs because it is flexible, thin and very bright for the little amount of power required,? explained Scheele. ?We were able to easily line each of the doors and display shelves with the lighting, and connect it all with a multi-switch lighting system that allows the homeowner to turn on different sections of the cabinet to create accent lighting in their home.?

LED strip lights are sold in reels of 5 meters (16.4 feet) and are cuttable in increments of 50 mm (1.97 inches), so they are perfect for custom designs. Strip lighting is available in a variety of white color temperatures, such as very warm white (2,400
