Reverend Zen’s Jack Evans Receives Fourth Consecutive ASCAP Award

Katonah, NY (PRWEB) November 12, 2010

Jack Evans of New York’s rock/blues/jazz group Reverend Zen has been named the recipient of a prestigious 2010-2011 ASCAP Plus Award. Mr. Evans was selected for the honor by a distinguished panel of music experts chaired in ASCAP’s Jazz & Popular Music Division. ASCAP, the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers, is one of the world’s largest performing rights organizations providing licensing and royalty distribution for its members. This marks the fourth consecutive year that Mr. Evans has received the ASCAP honor.

Over the past five years as leader, composer and lyricist for Reverend Zen, Mr. Evans has received sixty-nine songwriting and performance honors from around the world. In January of this year the band took home nine Finalist Awards, an Artist of the Year Nomination, and Best Song Nomination, for “Boy Genius”, from ABC Radio Network’s 2010-2011 Fame Games Effigy Awards in Costa del Sol, Spain. The Fame Games show along with their annual Effigy Awards is now broadcast worldwide on the Envision Radio Network. More accolades followed in August for the group with a 2010 Semi Finalist Award for “The One in Love” from the BBC sponsored UK Song Contest in London.

Kramer and Kaslow: California Investigates Florida Firm that Processes Foreclosures for Major Banks

Calabasas, CA (PRWEB) June 16, 2011

Lead attorney at the Law Offices of Kramer and Kaslow, Philip Kramer, is weighing in on a recent Los Angeles Times article regarding the California attorney general’s investigation of foreclosure practices. The Los Angeles Times is reporting that state Atty. Gen. Kamala Harris subpoenas documents from Lender Processing Services Inc.

The article says that, ?California Atty. Gen. Kamala D. Harris is investigating an obscure Florida firm that processes foreclosures for many of the nation’s major financial institutions, as she intensifies her examination of repossession practices in the Golden State.?

According to the L.A Times, ?The state’s top law enforcement officer subpoenaed Lender Processing Services Inc. of Jacksonville, Fla., a company that handles loans in default on behalf of several major banks. The subpoena requires LPS to produce documents and provide written answers to questions from the attorney general’s office by June 24.?

“California homeowners have been exposed to fraud and crime at every step of the mortgage process,” Attorney General Harris said in the LA Times article. “Justice demands we come to their aid, and a key step in that is to investigate robo-signing and the potential for inaccurate or unjust foreclosures.”

In the article, Harris emphasized that California homeowners may have fallen victim to robo-signers who didn’t verify the accuracy of the documents they were putting their names on and, in some cases, failed even to read the documents. Often, individuals signed thousands of times a day, she said.

In her statement, Harris warned that the risks posed by robo-signing are “particularly dangerous” in non-judicial foreclosure states such as California, as there is no judicial oversight of the foreclosure process.

Philip A. Kramer, a California-based attorney whose consolidated plaintiff litigation lawsuits are challenging six of the nation?s leading banks thinks Harris is on the right track. ?As I have prosecuted hundreds of cases on behalf of my clients, robo-signing is a fraudulent bank practice that occurs so often that I have almost come to believe that a non-robo-signed bank document might be the exception rather than the rule.?

More of Philip A. Kramer?s observations may be found at the Kramer and Kaslow blog.
